DJ Lourdes Ibiricu
Lourdes Ibiricu pondrá la música pinchada en los ratos libres de la sesión del sábado por la mañana de Madrid Swing Exchange.
Lourdes se plantea varias cuestiones para seleccionar las mejores piezas de la música que va a pinchar: escoge en su colección de música, – toda en su ordenador, a la antigua – respondiendo a: ¿Qué personas esperamos que vayan? ¿Cómo es el suelo? ¿Qué celebramos?.
En esta ocasión los protagonistas serán los músicos que nos rodean. Sonarán canciones de las bandas locales o muy cercanas, de las bandas que han tocado en Madrid; sacadas de esos CDs comprados en las actuaciones en vivo a las que ha asistido desde que, en 2001 irrumpió el baile swing en su vida. Escucharemos a Lady & The Tramps, Madrid Hot Jazz Band, Itziar Yagüe, Whatever Jazz Band, Martín Burguez, Mario Siles, Enric Peidro, Swing Machine Orchestra.. entre otros; y no faltará La Orquesta Brazofuerte, una de las primeras bandas de swing que tocó en Madrid para bailarines.
Hay y ha habido muchas otras, pero grabar es complicado y caro, por lo que pocos se meten en esa inversión.
“Que pasen cosas en un tema, que sean irresistibles las ganas de bailar al escucharla es lo que le pido a una canción para compartirla; en swing, jazz y blues me privan los riffs, el piano tomando el mando y los juegos de call-response y de ritmo que tanto aportan al baile.”
Del resto de música que está en sus favoritos, Prince será siempre el rey.
Lourdes Ibiricu will be giving us the benefit of her own music archives in the between-times at the Saturday morning session of the Madrid Swing Exchange.
When asked to select the best tracks , she turns to her collection (stored in her computer, vintage-style IT) and has a think: Who are expecting? What’s the floor like? What are we celebrating?
On this occasion, the protagonists will be local musicians. She will showcase songs by Madrid bands, or bands from nearby or who have performed in Madrid. Her tracks come from CDs bought at their live performances since 2001, which was when swing burst into her life.
We’ll hear Lady & The Tramps, Madrid Hot Jazz Band, Itziar Yagüe, Whatever Jazz Band, Martín Burguez, Mario Siles, Enric Peidro, Swing Machine Orchestra and more, including La Orquesta Brazofuerte,ne of the first swing bands to play for dancers in Madrid.
There are more bands and will be more still, but recording takes time and money, so not everyone makes the investment.
“When I choose a song to share, I want it to make things happen, so when you listen you can’t stop yourself dancing. In swing, jazz and blues, what I go for are the riffs; the piano taking over the controls; the call-response interplay and the rhythm, which add so much to the dance.”
As to other music she loves, well, Prince will always be her king.
