Friday night at the Madrid Swing Exchange is our chance to hear the selection of Ginés Prieto’s favourite sounds.
Blues dancer and much loved DJ at MAD for Swing events and in his native Galicia, in northern Spain, he picks songs that will delight us at the same time as they nudge us out of our comfort zone. He especially goes for songs where changes of rhythm “beckon us inside to really feel the music” as we let the blues open up a world of possibilities.
Ginés doesn’t care when his music was first performed. His mixture of classics date from all times: Sister Rosseta Tharpe, John Mayal, Odetta, Van Morrison, Graham Parker. What matters to him as we dance to his selection, is that they become timeless. And so do we.
